Tzu Chi Hospital held a general seminar themed “Recognize Your Body’s Signals: Don’t Ignore Brain and Nerve Disorders” on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Tzu Chi Hospital Auditorium. The event was attended by 200 participants, including members of the general public and healthcare practitioners. The seminar aimed to educate the community about various brain and nerve disorders, emphasizing the importance of early detection to maintain quality of life.

Prof. DR. Dr. Satyanegara, Sp.BS (K), a pioneer of neurosurgery in Indonesia and the Senior Director of Tzu Chi Hospital, served as the keynote speaker. In his presentation, he highlighted the importance of recognizing early symptoms of brain tumors, which are often dismissed as minor but could indicate serious conditions.

“A small tumor, if located in a vital area, can cause significant symptoms and disrupt one’s life,” explained Prof. Satya.

In addition to Prof. Satyanegara, the seminar featured three other neurosurgical experts who discussed key topics related to brain and nerve health in everyday life. The second speaker, Dr. Gibran Aditiara Wibawa, Sp.BS, Subsp.N-TB(K), MBA, presented “Persistent Lower Back Pain? Beware of Pinched Nerves!”. The session continued with Dr. Bima Andyan Wicaksana, B.Med.Sci, Sp.BS, who delivered a talk on “Head Injuries from Falls or Accidents: When Should You Worry?” Then, the seminar concluded with an important topic, “Brain Aneurysm: A Ticking Time Bomb That Can Be Treated Before It's Too Late,” presented by Dr. Nia Yuliatri, Sp.BS, M.Kes.

Dr. Suriyanto, Medical Director of Tzu Chi Hospital, emphasized in his opening remarks that as a hospital with leading services in stroke management and neurosurgery, Tzu Chi Hospital is committed to providing the highest quality of care focused on patient safety, quality of life, and comprehensive recovery. With a team of skilled medical professionals, advanced technology, and an integrated care system, Tzu Chi Hospital is positioned to become a trusted referral center for stroke and neurosurgical cases.

Beyond delivering health education, the seminar also provided an interactive platform where participants could engage directly with the speakers during a Q&A session, deepening their understanding of common brain and nerve disorders.

Through this event, Tzu Chi Hospital hopes to raise greater awareness about the importance of recognizing early body signals. Minor complaints, often overlooked, could be early signs of serious medical conditions requiring immediate attention.
