Stroke & Neurosurgery Center
Stroke & Neurosurgery Center at Tzu Chi Hospital provides comprehensive range of services include early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of nervous system disorders that affect the brain and spine.
This service is supported by a team of experienced neurosurgeon and neurologist, modern medical technology such as the MRI 3 Tesla Signa Architect, which produces images of organs and body tissues with the highest quality, as well as the first hybrid operating room in Indonesia, equipped with various advanced technologies including Intraoperative CT Scan, Robotic Angiography, and integrated video conferencing with Tzu Chi Hospital in Taiwan.
Conditions Treated
Cerebrovascular disease, such as:
- Blood vessel disorders, such as ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke (caused by spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage, arteriovenous malformations, or cerebral aneurysms)
- Congenital disorders, such as anterior meningoencephalocele, posterior meningoencephalocele
- Brain tumor
- Head injury, such as brain hemorrhage, skull fracture
- Infections, such as brain tuberculosis
- Hydrocephalus
- Parkinson's Disease

- Congenital abnormalities, such as spina bifida
- Infections, such as spinal tuberculosis
- Spinal tumors
Services and Treatments
- Microsurgery uses operating microscope
- Minimally invasive surgery, for example using endoscopy to reach regions in the brain and spine, and Percutaneous Laser Disc Decompression (PLDD).
- Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS): Radiation therapy using the 3D Linear Accelerator (3D LINAC) to shrinks tumor using 3-dimensional (3D) imaging to target high-dose radiation accurately and minimize the impact on other healthy tissue.
- Ventriculoperitoneal shunt surgery to treat hydrocephalus
Coming soon:
- Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS)
- MR guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS)
- Gamma Knife Radiosurgery
Medical Technology
- MRI 3 Tesla
Medical imaging technology uses magnetic fields and radio waves to produce images of organs and tissues inside the body. The MRI 3 Tesla is the highest in its class, offering several advantages, including the ability to examine parts of organs with clearer, more accurate, and faster images without requiring the patient to change position during the examination. Additionally, the MRI scanner hole is larger, with a diameter of 70 cm, making the experience more comfortable for patients. It can accommodate patients with a maximum weight of 180 kg.
- Hybrid Operating Theater
The operating room is equipped with an intraoperative CT scan, robotic angiography, and integrated video conferencing. These high-tech facilities are provided to increase the success rate of complex operations by prioritizing patient safety.
