Prostate & Urinary Stone Center

Prostate cancer is the fifth most common cancer in men in Indonesia, accounting for approximately 7.3% of all new cancer cases. According to data from the World Health Organization & International Agency for Research on Cancer (GLOBOCAN 2020), in Indonesia, new prostate cancer cases reached more than 13,000 in 2020. "Men over 60 often experience prostate enlargement. In 2020, there were 9.2 million men with prostate enlargement in Indonesia. Therefore, the hope is that the prostate and urinary stone center will continue to develop services in the field of urology," said Prof. Dr. dr. Satyanegara, Sp.BS.

Meanwhile, urinary tract stones also remain a significant health problem. Based on the 2013 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas), the prevalence of kidney stones in Indonesia reached 0.6%, or approximately 6 per 1,000 people. This figure tends to increase with lifestyle changes and the increasing trend of drinking less water. Seeing the high number of incidents and the limited number of integrated urology service centers with high-precision diagnostic facilities, Tzu Chi Hospital established the Prostate & Urinary Stone Center as a form of commitment to providing comprehensive, precise, and compassionate urology services. "With the opening of the Prostate and Urinary Stone Center, Indonesians should no longer need to seek medical treatment abroad. Tzu Chi Hospital now offers laser, ESWL, and RIRS methods for kidney stone treatment, as well as blue laser for prostate treatment.
